Position: President

Alexis Lemon-Zakou is an Operations Manager at Genco Shipping and Trading responsible primarily for the Baltic Trading Limited fleet. Prior to joining Genco Alexis was at NYK Bulkship Atlantic. Alexis holds a BA from the University of Buffalo (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and an MA from New York University. She was also a Fulbright Scholar to Greece (2002-2003).

   

Position: Vice-President

James Lightbourn is a Senior Associate at Alterna Capital Partners. Previously, James sourced, structured, and managed a portfolio of shipping loans and leases as Assistant Vice President at CIT Bank. Prior to assuming his role at CIT, James worked at Compass Maritime as a Sale & Purchase shipbroker and as the Director of Valuations. James began his career in shipping at the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) US Headquarters in New York City. Born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, James graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in International Economics.

Position: Treasurer

Sofia Vassilakis Warner is a Director of Investor Relations at Abeona Therapeutics Inc. Prior to joining Abeona, Sofia spent 10 years working in shipping and offshore finance including positions at DNB Bank, DVB Bank and Marine Money. She holds a MSc in Shipping, Trade and Finance from City University's Cass Business School London, and a BA in Communications from Marist College

   

Position: Secretary

Greg Chase is a Partner at Reed Smith LLP and a member of the Shipping Group. Greg represents lenders, investors and shipowners in finance, private equity, corporate and commercial transactions. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Government and History, summa cum laude, from St. Lawrence University and a law degree from Cornell Law School. He is also director of New York Maritime, Inc.

Stephen Lyman is the Director of the Seamen’s Church Institute’s (SCI) International Seafarer Center in Port Newark, NJ. Stephen joined SCI in 2011 and his current role includes managing the operation of the historic seafarer welfare mission of SCI in the New York metro area, port relations, and outreach management to the public.

Stephen has nearly two decades of experience in different operational roles in the non-profit sector. He holds dual Bachelor degrees in Operations Management and Sociology from Montclair State University and a Masters degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Non-Profit Management from Rutgers. Stephen is a Leadership Newark Fellow class of 2018, has completed the Shipping 101, and Port Executive courses and is a certified Ship Welfare Visitor from the Merchant Navy Welfare Board.

Peter Lynch joined AMA Capital Partners in 2015. At AMA, he focuses on advisory services and principal investing within the energy and transportation sectors. Prior to AMA, he worked at Canaccord Genuity, a mid-market investment bank, focusing on debt finance and restructuring. Previously, he gained significant maritime commercial operations and financial advisory experience at Marsoft, McQuilling Partners, and Mediterranean Shipping Company. Peter holds a BSBA in Finance from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business.

Michele Sancricca 

Michele Sancricca is the NYC Branch Manager of Mediterranean Shipping Company (USA) Inc., He joined MSC in 2014 and is currently responsible for the organizational development of the company’s US Headquarters and oversees all aspects of departments’ productivity and business optimization, while at the same time implementing several projects at nationwide level

Michele is a Lieutenant Commander who served with the Italian Navy for 20 years in different operational and training-related roles. Embarked for several years onboard Frigates, Destroyers and Aircraft Carriers, he took part into major counter piracy operations in the Indian Ocean, during which he supported the shipping community as maritime security advisor. While in command of a naval vessel in the Mediterranean Sea, Michele planned and executed several missions aimed at enforcing maritime security within national and international waters. Among other appointments, he trained and mentored hundreds of young Naval Officers at the Italian Naval Academy

Michele is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and he holds a Bachelor Degree in International Relationships as well as a MBA in Shipping and Logistics from the Middlesex University, London. 

 

Position Board Member:

Evan Sproviero is a Trader and Projects & Finance specialist with GMS. Prior to joining GMS, Evan was employed as an S&P and Projects & Finance broker with Compass Maritime Services (USA), where he worked since 2009. During his tenure as a broker, Evan covered an array of activities including projects & finance, newbuildings, second hand sale & purchase, and recycling-demolition. Evan holds BA in Economics from Fordham University and a Master's in International Business, with distinction, from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland.
